Memphis, TN – June 02, 2018 – The City of Memphis Mayor’s Office honored The Cathedral Foundation for its work in the City of Memphis community.  “People & Purpose: The Impact” is the theme for Tri-State Black Pride 2018 highlighting the LGBTQ people of color, their allies, intentions and influences in the world while continuing the commemoration MLK 50. TriState Black Pride pays homage to Dr. King by recognizing the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin L. King, Jr., who focused on the social and economic injustices even among the LGBTQ people of color.

The Center for Black Equity (CBE) announced in 2016 its recognition of The Cathedral Foundation, Inc.’s Tri-State Black Pride as the official host of Black Pride events for Memphis, TN. The decision followed an extensive four-month review of The Cathedral Foundation, Inc.’s 501c3 organization and is based on factors of Capacity, Community Support, and Commitment to the mission and values of CBE.

The 2nd Annual Tri-State Black Gay Pride weekend will take place June 14-17, 2018. Its mission is to showcase unity and pride by promoting equality, inclusion, HIV/AIDS awareness, health care, education, outreach, art, and culture of the Mid-South’s LGBTQ community and allies.

“We are looking forward to ending the stigma, showing that we are one, and spreading the love,” says Dr. Davin D. Clemons, co-founder of The Cathedral Foundation, Inc.
